Chairman

Mr. Anwaruddin Chowdhury FCA is an Independent Director to the Board of Prime Bank PLC. He is currently appointed as Chairman of the Audit Committee and serves as a member of the Risk Management Committee of the Board.

He is a past President (2001) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Bangladesh (ICAB) and served as a Council Member for 21 years to end 2018. He was the founder Managing Director of Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh. He is a founder Partner of ACNABIN and served in the Profession for three decades in the UK and Bangladesh.

He is a Financial Management Specialist, with varied experience in the corporate, financial services and development sectors, and in the fields of professional training and academia. He is an internationally renowned finance professional and acted as a Consultant for different international agencies, like the World Bank, ADB, UNDP, and UK DFID, regulatory and professional bodies.

He served in Leadership roles in national, regional, and international accountancy organizations. He was an elected Director of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) for two four-year terms and as the Chair of the CAPA PSFM Committee for one term to end 2019. He served as a Technical Advisor to the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Board. He was appointed as a founder Member of the IFAC, IPSASB, Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) in 2016, and reappointed for two more terms to date.

He authored and presented many Keynote, Technical Papers in national and international Conferences and Seminars, on professional topics, financial and macro-economic issues, including Harmonization of Financial Reporting and Audit Practices (IFRS-ISA), GATS/WTO, Sustainability, and Integrated Reporting, etc. He served on UNCTAD ISAR Task Force for SME Reporting and Chaired UN ISAR’s first Workshop on Corporate Governance in Geneva.
