Prime Bank Foundation Supports Underprivileged but Meritorious Students
An Award Giving Ceremony of Prime Bank Foundation was arranged on 28 September, 2011 at BIAM Foundation, Dhaka to handover the stipends of its Education Support Programme. Barrister Rafique-ul-Haque, Senior Advocate, Bangladesh Supreme Court was present as the chief guest and distributed the cheques of 1st installment to the students. Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury and Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Educationists, were present at the occasion as the special guests. Md. Shirajul Islam Mollah, Chairman, Prime Bank Limited presided over the award giving ceremony. Amongst others Md. Nader Khan, Former Chairman of the Bank, K. M. Khaled, Chairman, Executive Committee, Prime Bank Foundation, Ehsan Khasru, Managing Director of Prime Bank and Dr. Iqbal Anwar, Chief Executive Officer, Prime Bank Foundation also spoke on the occasion. Father Benjamin Costa, Principal, Notre Dame College, high officials of the Bank and a number of distinguished guests from other banks and corporate houses attended the program.

Apart from the commercial banking operation, Prime Bank Limited through its Foundation is simultaneously playing a pivotal role in the society as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities. Prime Bank Foundation is providing long-term financial support to the underprivileged but meritorious students through Education Support Programme which started in 2007. First year the Foundation awarded 170 students, second year 122 students, third year 198 students, fourth year 196 students and this year another 205 students have been awarded. The total recipients of Prime Bank Foundation stipends stood at a total of 891.

This year a total of 205 students from different educational institutions of the country are receiving stipends of Tk. 2,000/- per month for the pursuing their studies in graduation level. Their stipends are expected to be continued till the end of their studies as they have applied for.

Prime Bank Opens 59th ATM Booth at Motijheel
Prime Bank opened its 59th ATM booth at Motijheel RAJUK Avenue, Dhaka on 26th September, 2011. Chairman of the Bank Md. Shirajul Islam Mollah inaugurated the booth as the chief guest. Managing Director of Prime Bank Ehsan Khasru, Deputy Managing Director Isbahul Bar Chowdhury, Senior Executive Vice President Md. Monawar Hossain, Executive Vice President Md. Iqbal Hossain, Executive Vice President Farhad Uddin, Senior Vice President Ferdousi Sultana and Vice President Salahuddin Ahmed of the Bank were also present at the moment.

Chairman of the Bank Md. Shirajul Islam Mollah said Prime Bank is gradually expanding its technology based banking facilities through ATM, not only in the urban areas but also in the rural areas of the country.

Managing Director of the Bank Ehsan Khasru said, through ATM booth customers can withdraw their money as well as know their accounts status by mini statements. Besides, the Bank is facilitating its customers to deposit their money and pay utility bills through its financial kiosks.

Prime Bank Opens 58th ATM Booth at Khulna
Prime Bank Limited opened its 58th ATM booth at the port city Khulna on 20th September, 2011. Chairman of the Bank Md. Shirajul Islam Mollah inaugurated the booth adjacent to the branch as the chief guest. This is the first ATM booth of Prime Bank in Khulna.

Head of Khulna branch SVP Sheikh Anisuzzaman and AVP Md. Mizanur Rahman were present at the occasion. The chief guest requested the cooperation of the people of Khulna for the Banks progress by and large.

Customers, businessmen and social elites participated the inauguration program.

Noteworthy that the Bank is going to set up another two ATM booths and service centers at two other locations in Khulna including the New Market area. Customers of the Bank would be able to deposit and withdraw their money as well as get other financial services through ATM and Kiosks in these booths and service centers.

Md. Ehsan Khasru Joins Prime Bank as Managing Director
Md. Ehsan Khasru has joined Prime Bank Limited as Managing Director on 15 September, 2011. Prior to joining Prime Bank Limited, Mr. Khasru was Additional Managing Director of The City Bank Ltd.

Mr. Khasru started his illustrious banking career as a Probationary Officer in National Bank Ltd. in 1983. Before joining as Marketing Manager (Relationship) in Business & Corporate Banking Division of American Express Bank during 1992 to 1999, he served National Credit & Commerce Bank Ltd. for some time. In 2000, he moved abroad and worked in the Royal Bank of Canada and Bank of Montreal as a Senior Manager (Relationship) and Financial Services Manager respectively till 2007.

Mr. Khasru returned from abroad in 2007 and joined Eastern Bank as the Head of Credit Risk Management. Subsequently in 2008, he joined The City Bank Ltd. as SEVP and Head of Credit Risk Management where he received elevation twice in three years. During this time he was promoted as Additional Managing Director from the rank of Deputy Managing Director for his contribution as the Chief Risk Officer of the bank.

An MBA in Marketing from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka in 1982, Mr. Khasru also obtained his Bachelor (Hons) in Economics from Dhaka University in 1979.

Mr. Khasru, son of Late Suzauddin come off the distinguished family of Jamaluddin Mazumder Bari of Sonapur village in the Feni Sadar Upazila.

Mr. Khasru is proud father of three sons.

Prime Bank and Dipon Consulting Services (DCS) Sign Agreement on Biometric Smart Card Money Transfer Services
Prime Bank Limited and Dipon Consulting Services signed a commercial agreement to launch Biometric Smart Card Money Transfer Services at the head office premises of the Bank on 9th August, 2011. Managing Director of Prime Bank Limited M. Ehsanul Haque and Chief Executive Officer of Dipon Consultancy Services Rashed Mahmud signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Deputy Managing Directors Isbahul Bar Chowdhury, Ahmed Kamal Khan Chowdhury and Md. Golam Rabbani, EVP and Head of IT Md. Iqbal Hossain and VP and Head of ADC Salahuddin Ahmed and VP and Head of Cards Md. AH Majumder of Prime Bank Limited, and COO of Dipon Consultancy Services Fakhrul Islam and other officials of both the organizations were present at the signing ceremony.

For the first time Bangladesh, this biometric smart card money transfer service is going to build the financial services infrastructure to increase the reach of financial services to the unbanked in urban and rural areas, powered by Prime Bank Limited in association with Dipon Consultancy Services DGe-Pay biometrics smart card technology.

This biometric smart card money transfer service will allow mass people to deposit, withdraw and transfer their money electronically through Prime Bank and DGePay authorized agents.

Prime Bank Opens 112th Branch at Baneswar
Prime Bank Limited opened its 112th Branch (including 15 SME branches) at Baneswar on 24th July, 2011. Chairman of the Bank Mohammad Aminul Haque inaugurated the branch as the chief guest. Former Vice Chairperson of the Bank Mrs. Nazma Haque was present at the moment as the special guest of the ceremony. Managing Director of Prime Bank M. Ehsanul Haque presided over the branch opening ceremony. Deputy Managing Director Md. Golam Rabbani delivered the welcome speech. SEVPs of the Bank Md. Monawar Hossain and Khondaker Iqbal Hossain were also present on the occasion.

Inaugurating the branch at Baneswar, Chairman of the Bank Mohammad Aminul Haque said that the true progress of the economy lies in the development of the rural areas of the country. Therefore, Prime Bank has opened the branch with the objective of rendering its services even in the remote areas of the country. He urged all the businessmen and the elites present at the occasion to take the advantage of the Banks Retail and SME loans and various types of deposit products.

Managing Director of Prime Bank M. Ehsanul Haque said that the Bank is providing the small and medium entrepreneurs collateral-free loans through its SME project. He added that besides rendering general banking services the branch will also be able to facilitate the people of the constituency to receive foreign remittances swiftly and safely.

Head of Baneswar branch Md. Abdul Halim thanked all customers, guests and patrons for making the function a success. Local elites among the guests of the ceremony were the President of Baneswar Association for Commerce and Industries Abdul Bari Mukta and Chairman of Charghat Upazila Abu Sayeed Chand.

Prime BankNDDC 23rd National Debate Competition Ends
Prime Bank-NDDC 23rd National Debate Competition successfully ended on 23rd July, 2011 at the Notre Dame College auditorium. Debating clubs from 37 renowned schools, colleges and universities across the country participated in the ten-day event. This year the theme of debate competition was - Divide and Rule.

At the prize giving ceremony on the final day of the competition present as the chief guest was the state minister for Ministry of Cultural Affairs of the Govt. Advocate Promod Mankin; while Deputy Managing Director of Prime Bank Limited Ahmed Kamal Khan Chowdhury, renowned scientist and human rights worker, founder of NDDC and ex-principal of the college Fr. R. W. Timm, C.S.C were present as the special guests. SEVP of Prime Bank Md. Mozammel Hussain and moderator of NDDC Fr. Adam S. Pereira, C.S.C were also present among others at the occasion.

Prime Bank Limited opened its 111th Branch (including 15 SME branches) at Jamalpur on 9th July, 2011. Deputy Commissioner of Jamalpur District Md. Sirajuddin Ahamed inaugurated the branch as the chief guest. Managing Director of the Prime Bank M. Ehsanul Haque presided over the opening ceremony. Deputy Managing Director M. Reazul Karim delivered the welcome speech. SEVP and Head of LSSD Md. Monawar Hossain and EVP and Head of IT Md. Iqbal Hossain of the Bank were also present on the occasion.

Prime Bank Elects New Vice- Chairmen
The Board of Directors of Prime Bank Limited in its 363rd Meeting held on May 30, 2011 unanimously elected M. A Khaleque and Mafiz Ahmed Bhuiyan as the Vice- Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank for the next term of two years effective from June 01, 2011 to May 31, 2013. They are Sponsor Directors of the Bank.

M. A Khaleque, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors: Mr. M. A Khaleque is the founder and sponsor Director of Prime Bank Limited. He was born on 23rd March, 1947 in a respectable Muslim family in Pirojpur District. Mr. Khaleque did his masters in Commerce from Dhaka University. Since the last 25 years he has set an enviable standard by numerous renowned institutions ranging from banks, non-bank financial institutions and life and general insurances in the country. Mr. Khaleques name has now become synonymous with some of the finest institutions with highly professional outlook and vision in the country. Spanning a period of around 20 years, success came to him as a matter of choice through Prime Finance & Investment Ltd, Fareast Islami Life Insurance Ltd., Prime Insurance Ltd., Fareast Finance & Investment Ltd., PFI Securities Ltd., Fareast Stocks and Bonds Ltd., Prime Islami Securities Ltd., Prime Prudential Fund Ltd. and Prime Financial Securities Ltd., some of which are already market leaders in their respective fields. Having set epoch making standards in the financial arena, he has set his sight into the emerging information technology, booming property sector and promising agro-based sector of the country and his dreams were fulfilled through promotion of Getco AgroVision Ltd., Getco Telecommunications Ltd., HRC Technologies Ltd., Prime Property Holdings Ltd. and PFI Properties Ltd. Apart from the above business arena he is a member of the Board of Governors, Primeasia University. His social contribution came through his foundation under the name of MAK Foundation through establishment of a good number of educational institutions such as University, Degree College, Technical College, Krishi College, High School, Girls High School, Kindergartens and Madrasahs imparting quality education in the society. He is actively involved with SEBA, a benevolent organization in Bangladesh. He is currently the Chairman of Fareast Finance & Investment Limited, Fareast Stocks and Bonds Ltd., Prime Property Holdings Ltd. and PFI Properties Ltd. Mr. Khaleque was also the Vice Chairman of the Bank during 2002-03.

Mafiz Ahmed Bhuiyan, Vice Chairman, Board of Directors: Mr. Mafiz Ahmed Bhuiyan was born in a respectable Muslim family in Comilla on 30th December, 1960. He is an entrepreneur and has the distinction of making substantial contribution in the Backward Linkage Industry setup in the RMG sector in its early years. He also pioneered in setting up joint- venture projects in the country with the collaboration of the developed countries like Taiwan and Korea. Currently, he is Director of Prime Insurance Co Ltd and Australian International School. Besides, he is Life Member of numerous educational and social welfare organizations. A widely traveled person, Mr. Bhuiyan is also a keen lover of Games & Sports and actively participates in the Golfing events. He was also the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank in 2004 and Chairman of the Executive Committee during 2001-02. He is currently director of Prime Insurance Co. Ltd, Australian International School, International Holdings Ltd. and Shugandha Holdings Ltd, Life member of Eastern University, Life Member and Vice Chairman of Southeast University, and Chairman of Shephered World Trade Ltd.

Prime Bank Elects New Chairman
The Board of Directors of Prime Bank Limited in its 363rd Meeting held on May 30, 2011 unanimously elected Mr. Mohammad Aminul Haque as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank for the next term of two years effective from June 01, 2011 to May 31, 2013. He is a Sponsor Director of the Bank.

Mr. Haque is a successful business personality with innovative entrepreneurial capability. In the year 1964, he started his career with the then Industrial Development Bank of Pakistan (Now Bangladesh Development Bank). Subsequently he joined erstwhile East Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority as an Assistant Engineer.

He is the founder of Bangla Trac Ltd., a distinguished dealer of Caterpillar Inc- a world famous manufacturer of construction equipment, diesel and gas engines and generator. A widely known businessman, Mr. Haque is associated with a number of business organizations engaged in banking, insurance, finance, trade, service and manufacturing businesses.

He was the Chairman of Prime Bank Limited from June 01, 2001 to May 31, 2002. Moreover, he was the Chairman of Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Prime Bank Limited from June 01, 2007 to May 31, 2009. Before his appointment as the Chairman of Prime Bank Ltd., he was the Chairman of Prime Finance and Investment Limited for the sixth time consecutively. He is equally involved in various activities pertaining to social welfare.

He is a Mechanical Engineer graduated from BUET in 1962. His amiable approach blended with professional excellence has been a key to his success. His true professionalism and strong belief in corporate culture are well recognized in the business community.
