Prime Bank PLC, a leading private commercial bank in Bangladesh, has joined Bangladesh Bank’s BDT 10,000 agricultural refinance fund aimed at ensuring food security, increasing agricultural production and creating new employment opportunities in the country. An agreement to this effect was recently signed between Bangladesh Bank and Prime Bank PLC at the central bank’s head office.

The signing ceremony was attended by M. Nazeem A. Chowdhury, Additional Managing Director of Prime Bank PLC, Shahana Parvin, Head of Agro Business, Prime Bank PLC, A.K.M. Saidzuzzaman, Director, Agricultural Credit Department-2 of Bangladesh Bank, Rafia Sultana, Additional Director, Agricultural Credit Department-2; Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Joint Director of Bangladesh Bank, along with senior officials from both organizations.

Under Bangladesh Bank’s agricultural refinance fund, farmers & agricultural entrepreneurs will have access to loans at lower interest rates in the future. The initiative is expected to expand the scope of financing in the agricultural sector while further strengthening Prime Bank PLC’s capacity to finance agriculture and related enterprises.
